Repositioning Hermel on the Map of Lebanon TAD
Objective:
The objective of this project is to transform the economy of Hermel Kaza from an “outlawed” economy to a legal and productive economy that complements the national economy of Lebanon. Seeking to achieve this long-term objective, and over a period of two years, the project will directly work to promote the development of the tourism sector in Hermel and it will be implemented by the Union of Municipalities of Hermel through the Planning and Development Administration (PDA).
Expected achievements:
- A tourism plan developed in cooperation with an expert from the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism for Hermel Kaza.
- A touristic center fully functional at the entrance of Hermel.
- The quality of touristic services provided by local organizations improved.
- Promotion material printed and distributed to organizations and tourism agencies.
- Seasonal exhibitions for local productions organized.

PDA contribution: 12,958.00 Euro

Expected activities:
Having a specialized quality control department that supervises tourist establishments and carries out periodic inspections to ensure the application of all standards required – by the Ministry of Tourism – and work to improve the quality of tourism services provided.
A tourist guide center at the entrance to Hermel will do the following:
- Receiving and directing tourists and guests.
- Receiving complaints of departures and following them up.
- Advertising and marketing for cooperating institutions that are subject to oversight and comply with the standards of the Ministry of Tourism through the following matters:
- Putting quality boards (mentioning that the institutions are under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism) on the cooperating institutions.
- Distribution of brochures for the benefit of cooperating institutions at the entrance to the city for arrivals.
- 3×4 billboards on the Mahatta-Hermel road.
- Online publicity via the project’s website: www.Hermel_online.org
- Producing a tourist guide about Hermel and communicating with Lebanese tourism agencies to make Hermel among their tourism programs.
- A permanent exhibition of high quality local products that meet all the required conditions and standards.
- Taking break to receive visitors and people of the area.
