General objective:

Creating a new economic dynamism for Hermel

Target Groups:

Farmers, land-owners and tourist agencies operating in Hermel Kaza and Jroud El-Hermel.

Final beneficiaries:

Residents of Hermel Kaza, and jroud El-Hermel, estimated at 72,000 persons.

Expected Results:

• To establish and operate a Research and Quality Control Unit in Hermel to help lower contamination, fight desertification, direct plantations, and meet international standards in tourism and agriculture/ aquaculture.
• To formulate a new economic dynamism focused on developing the tourism, agriculture, and aquaculture sectors, especially fruit plantation and proper breeding of Trout Fish at Orontes River in a way that would preserve the health and the touristic attraction of the area while meeting international standards.

•  To sign cooperative contracts with all organizations working along the sides of Orontes River holding them accountable for river contamination induced by their operations.

• To install and activate the Fish Fodder Factory

• To coordinate the production of the recently activated Fish Fodder Factory.

•  To train agriculture organizations and farmers on international quality standards
• To provide consultancy services to small farm owners that would enable them to direct their fruit plantations and productions based on demand and secure loans with low interests, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. Priority will be given to female-headed households

• To train tourist organizations on international quality standards

• To grant quality certificates to tourist organizations, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism
