Repositioning Hermel on the Map of Lebanon – TAD
Objective:
To transform the economy of Hermel Kaza from an “outlawed” economy to a legal and productive economy that complements the national economy of Lebanon. Over a 24-month period, the project aims to promote the development of the tourism sector in Hermel. It is implemented by the Union of Municipalities of Hermel through the Planning and Development Agency (PDA).
Expected Achievements:
A comprehensive tourism development plan for Hermel Kaza, developed in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism.
Establishment of a fully functional tourist center at the entrance of Hermel.
Improved quality of tourism services provided by local organizations.
Design, production, and distribution of promotional materials to tourism agencies and the public.
Organization of seasonal exhibitions showcasing local products.
Final Beneficiaries:
Tourism enterprises in the Hermel region.
Local food cooperatives.
Residents of Hermel Kaza.

EU Contribution: €79,597.00
PDA Contribution: €12,958.00
Expected Activities:
Creation of a specialized quality control department to inspect tourist establishments, ensure compliance with Ministry of Tourism standards, and improve service quality.
Launch of a Tourist Guide Center at Hermel’s entrance to:
Welcome and guide tourists.
Handle complaints and follow-ups.
Promote certified establishments via:
Quality signage indicating oversight by the Ministry of Tourism.
Distribution of brochures at the entrance to Hermel.
3x4m billboards on the Mahatta-Hermel road.
Online marketing via: www.Hermel_online.org
Production of a tourist guidebook for Hermel and outreach to Lebanese tourism agencies.
Setup of a permanent exhibition of high-quality local products.
