
Youth MED-Capacity
Overview
This project aimed to enhance the awareness of youth in Euro-Mediterranean countries regarding the importance of reconciliation, conflict resolution, protection of human rights, and democratization in a multiethnic world.
General Objective:
To strengthen the cultural capacities of young actors in promoting democratization, reconciliation, and human rights — both within fragmented national contexts and across countries.
Specific Objectives:
Enhance the capacity and participation of civil society in governance processes.
Provide professional and cultural development opportunities for youth and young women.

Policy-makers
Education professionals
Civil society organizations
Implemented Activities:
Coordination with the partner organization Centre for Research on the Economics of Institutions (CREI) to define the exchange program’s format, content, and participants.
Selection of 16 participants: 6 from CREI (3 professors and 3 students) and 10 from Lebanon (1 expert, 1 journalist, and 8 students).
Organization of two meetings:
• First meeting in Beirut (8 days)
• Second meeting in Hermel (2 days)Promotion of intercultural dialogue between Italian and Lebanese participants focused on shared values and mutual understanding.
Capacity-building sessions on topics such as peacebuilding, acceptance, cultural diversity, and the roots of violence.
In-depth group discussions on the topic of terrorism and its global impact.
Drafting of a follow-up project concept targeting Lebanese youth, with the intention of submitting it to the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF).
