Project Title:
A New Economic Dynamism for Hermel II
Specific Objective:
To activate a new economic dynamism promoting quality, contamination-free tourism and fish production in the Hermel region.
Target Groups:

Achieved Activities:
Installation of a clean water network for Assi-based restaurants.
Elimination of a sewage source contaminating the Assi spring; implementation of a drinking pond for cattle.
Establishment of an exemplary trout farm based on best production methodologies.
Signing of “Control River Production” contracts with 13 fisheries in Zone A.
Equipping a packing and processing center, purchasing transport means, and marketing 15 trout fish varieties across Lebanon.
Registration of a product brand: “SILO Healthy Food”.
Signing of a formal agreement with the Ministry of Public Health for quality inspection.
Continuous support provided by a Scientific Advisor and Food Quality Officers.
10 technical workshops delivered for fisheries and cooperatives on eco-conscious practices.
2 subgrants awarded to:
NGO 1: Installed a mechanical filtration system requiring no energy.
NGO 2: Built a 1200m wind barrier to reduce dirt carried to the valley.
Achieved Impact:
Zone A declared 100% sewage-free, improving potable water access and environmental quality.
Significant rebound in eco-tourism, with 8 new touristic institutions opened in 2018.
Enhanced marketability of pollution-free local fish products.
Job creation in tourism, fisheries, and the packaging sector.
Behavioral shift among residents in Zones B and C toward eco-friendliness, replicating Zone A’s success.
Long-term poverty reduction and public health improvement in the region.
