A New Economic Dynamism for Hermel I

Target Groups:

Farmers, land-owners and tourist agencies operating in Hermel Kaza and Jroud El-Hermel.

Final Beneficiaries:

Residents of Hermel Kaza and Jroud El-Hermel, estimated at 72,000 persons.

Expected Results:

• Establish and operate a Research and Quality Control Unit in Hermel to:

  • Lower contamination

  • Fight desertification

  • Direct plantations

  • Meet international standards in tourism and agriculture/aquaculture

• Formulate a new economic dynamism focused on:

  • Tourism development

  • Agriculture and aquaculture

  • Fruit plantation

  • Proper Trout Fish breeding at Orontes River

  • Environmental and touristic preservation

• Sign cooperative contracts with all organizations along the Orontes River to ensure accountability for river contamination.

• Install and activate the Fish Fodder Factory.

• Coordinate production of the Fish Fodder Factory.

• Train agriculture organizations and farmers on international quality standards.

• Provide consultancy to small farm owners:

  • To align production with demand

  • Secure low-interest loans in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture

  • Prioritize female-headed households

• Train tourist organizations on international quality standards.

• Grant quality certificates to tourist organizations in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.
